Des Moines, Iowa · IT Systems Administrator

Troy (T.J.) Siedsma

I'm an IT professional driven by a desire to learn and build things. Twenty years in, that's taken me from PC repair and front-line support to enterprise virtualization, backup and multi-site infrastructure.

Today I'm an IT Systems Administrator at the Iowa Lottery. I own and operate Lithium Hosting, which I started in 2006, and I build commercial software. Earlier I founded and ran a managed services provider for eight years.

IT Systems Administrator. Enterprise virtualization, backup and replication, and multi-site infrastructure.

WheelingTrips

Operational

A production SaaS trip planner for off-road and overland travel. Multi-day route planning, per-rig fuel math, and group coordination for people who wheel together. Solo built and solo operated, live with paying-tier billing.

  • Mapping, routing and geocoding sit behind provider contracts, so switching vendors is a config change rather than a rewrite. AWS Location today, Mapbox before it.
  • Real billing: plans, quotas, free trials, and graceful handling when an account downgrades while over quota.
  • Operated, not just shipped. Deploys, queue supervision, log rotation and incident diagnosis are all mine.

LiBilling

In deployment

A commercial billing and provisioning platform for web hosting companies, built solo as a modern alternative to WHMCS. It runs the full customer lifecycle: storefront and checkout, payments through Stripe and PayPal, domain registration, and automated provisioning onto cPanel, ApisCP and SolusVM.

It's structured as roughly forty Composer packages, so every integration is a genuine plugin rather than a fork point. Selling software also meant shipping everything around it: licensing, a browser-based installer, an upgrade path, and a documentation site.

Lithium Hosting

Operational

A web hosting provider I've owned and operated since 2006. Every layer is mine to run: servers, mail, DNS, storage, billing and support, and the uptime obligations that come with all of it.

Integrity Computers

Decommissioned

A managed services provider I founded and ran for eight years, serving small businesses across central Iowa. Networks, servers, backups, and the day-to-day support that keeps a small company working.
